John Cavenah

Died 29th September 1849

John Cavenah-died age unknown

John Cavenah died from cholera on 29th September 1849. He was living in King’s Arm Yard according to the Rawlinson’s Report on the cholera outbreak. His age is not recorded.

John’s burial was not recorded in the Bishops Transcripts, nor in the Newcastle Courant obituary columns for that period, so it is difficult to get  lead to carry out further research. One suspects that he may have been born elsewhere and buried elsewhere, very possibly under another name-as happened from time to time at this period.

There is not a lot more we can say about him…unless you have more information?

Note: Cavenah is Rawlinson’s spelling, but his name could be Cavanagh or even Kavanagh. There was, however no better luck using either of these spellings.

Research on the 136 dead has been carried out by the Alnwick Branch of the Northumberland and Durham Family History Society. If you have any more information that can help us regarding this or any other of the cholera victims, we would love to hear from you.
