Died 5th October 1849
Above: Anns burial record (note that we use Rawlinsons spelling of all names in these biographies).
Ann Bamburgh died in the Alnwick cholera outbreak on 5th October 1849. She was 58 years old, so born about 1791.
According to the Rawlinson report on the cholera dead, she was living in Green Batt at the time. Bamburgh has many different spellings. For example it is spelt “Balmbro” on the church record. We researched under various spellings, with no great success.
Do you know any more about this woman who was buried anonymously together with many others in a mass grave at the rear of St. Michael’s Church??
Research on the 136 dead has been carried out by the Alnwick Branch of the Northumberland and Durham Family History Society.
