Neil McNab
Died 24th September 1849

Neil McNab died on September 24th in Alnwick Workhouse. He was remarkably the only inmate of the workhouse to die in the outbreak.

We know nothing else about him, apart from his age (32), so he was born about 1817.
With a name like McNab he was probably Scottish, but on Rawlinson’s list it says he was ex-Rugeley. This was an industrial town in Staffordshire, but we can’t find any records showing that he was born there. It is also not clear why he had travelled so far North, presumably to find work, but obviously without success
