John Douglas Arnott
Only three months old
Died October 1st 1849
John Douglas Arnott died an infant on October 1st According to Rawlinson’s report on the cholera deaths, John was three months old when he died from contracting cholera.
He died on 1st October, so he must have been born the previous July. We eventually found a birth record, but it was under “Joseph Douglas Arnott”
John was buried on October 3rd. The Bishop’s Transcripts at the top of this page record his death as Joseph Douglas Arnott,
*We have used the names stated in Rawlinson’s report for each of the 136 deaths in this research
We found his parents were married in Alnwick on 21st Feb 1847 from an announcement in the Newcastle Guardian on 27/2/1847. From this we know that his father was a cooper.
Sadly his mother died a few days after (Joseph), but she was not on the Rawlinson report as a cholera victim, so this was probably from birth complications.
