Our Street: Percy Terrace
Percy Terrace is a street close to Alnwick town centre with a fascinating history. Its origins are in the Georgian period when a great deal of social and economic change was taking place in the town.
In a public meeting the residents told us that they would like to develop a project which tells the story of their street from the time when the houses were built to the present day. They said they would like to produce a digitised film using historic photographs and images information drawn from old census information,”talking heads”, news articles etc.
Museum volunteers worked with the residents helping them collect the information. A DVD has been compiled from the findings of the project and was launched in July 2013 . Participating residents were presented with their own copy of the DVD and it was made available to view at the Museum.
