Formerly 23475, Hertfordshire Yeomanry.

The Royal Berkshire Regiment's 1st Battalion took part in the 'Breaking of the Hindenburg Line' (in preparation for the later 'Advance to Victory'), including the Battle of Canal du Nord where Oubridge was killed.

Background:
Born in 1899, at Gateshead, County Durham, the second child of George William Oubridge (b. London; a Painter & Decorator), by his wife Margaret Oubridge (née Davidson; a native of Felton).

Oubridge & his elder brother, Thomas, were sent to live with their maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Davidson, at her dairy farm at Felton (now Felton Surgery), where they were educated at the village school.
