Born on 25 June 1884, at 29, Belsay Place, Elswick, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, the son of the late George Reed, by his wife, Elizabeth J. (nÃ©e Rowley), of Sea View House, Heatherleazes, Warkworth, Northumberland.
An Accountant by profession. Reed worked, first, in England for North East Railway, then at St. John, Canada.
Reed had two brothers & a sister. His father was a Tailor & Cutter by profession.
