Have you a relative who died in World War one?

The database of now over 1500 fallen service personnel from WW1 with ties to Alnwick District keeps growing. The Western Front Association would love to hear from you.

David Thompson of the Western Front Association, who manage the WW1 database now available via bailiffgatecollections.co.uk said ” We have had so many wonderful photos and stories sent to us via the museum over the period 2014-2018. With such a huge number of soldiers, sailors and airman killed, however there are still many where we do not have a full back-story. What were they like? What job did they do before joining up? Who were their family etc. Of course any photographs, whether in uniform or beforehand are wonderful to receive.

We are also interested to hear stories about anyone who attended Alnwick Camp on the meadows before they went off to the front. They were not to know what horrors faced them on arrival,  mainly at the Somme. Hopefully Alnwick  was a happy time away from home, with their pals*.
