Son of Elizabeth Nettleship (nee Wilson) & the late Charles Nettleship, of 5, Howick Street, Alnwick, Northumberland.

One of two sons lost: see also 2nd Lieut. Thomas Nettleship (2nd Lieutenant with the Northumberland Fusiliers, 1/5th Battalion, Territorial Force; Died 22 March 1918).

A replica of Mark's original Belgian cemetery cross was held in the Methodist Chapel in Alnwick until its closure in 2023
