Background:
Born at Kelso, Roxburghshire, Scotland, the son of Andrew (a Seedsman & Nurseryman) & Elizabeth Michie, of 14, Bondgate Within, Alnwick, Northumberland.
One of two sons lost: see, also, Gilbert Archer Michie (Regimental service #18720; Cameronians [Scottish Rifles], 10th [Service] Battalion; Died 25 September 1915).
Resident of Alnwick before joining up. In 1911, the family lived at 60, Bondgate Within.
In 1911, Michie, 21 years-old, worked as a Seedsman's Clerk.
He had eight siblings, four brothers & four sisters.
