Service History:
Enlisted at Kelso, Roxburghshire, Scotland in December 1915.

McGregor was killed in action on the opening day of the Battle of Third Ypres. On that day the battalion captured all its objectives but suffered heavy casualties. Two Officers & 55 Other Ranks were killed, & 6 Officers & 207 Other Ranks were wounded.

Background:
Born at Carhum, Northumberland, the son of Mr T. & Mrs Jane McGregor, of East Kirknewton, late of Primside Mill, Yetholm, Roxburghshire, Scotland.

Before the war McGregor had been employed by Mr Davidson, a Rabbit Catcher, of Yetholm.

The UK, Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects, 1901-1929 (available via Ancestry.co.uk) records McGregor's mother, Jane, as the sole legatee.
