Service History:
Enlisted at Alnwick, Northumberland in August 1914.

Landed in France on 21 April 1915 with his battalion part of the Northumbrian Infantry Brigade, which was rushed forward to the Ypres area to help meet German attacks during which they (the German's) first used gas as a weapon of war on the Western Front.

Killed in action during the attack on St. Julien. A Private Lambert wrote to the family informing them of Lyon's death, having been shot by a sniper through the back.

Background:
Born in 1883, at Morpeth, Northumberland, the son of Edward & Margaret Lyons.

Having served his apprenticeship with his father as a Tailor & Clothier, moved to Felton to work for the Co-operative Society.

A very popular figure in the village. Played in goal for Felton Football Club.
