Born about 1882, the son of James & Martha Liddell, of Woodbine Cottage, Alnwick, Northumberland.

James Liddle (Sic; This was the spelling of the surname on the 1891 Census available via 'Find My Past.com') was a Coachman.

Liddell, his parents & two older brothers, Robert & William J., were all born in Scotland. His younger brother, James, &, in 1891, a younger sister, Jessie, were both born at Alnwick, which suggests the family moved to Northumberland in the mid-1880s.
