On Ancestry.co.uk there are two batches of British Army Service Records for Hunter, which appear to be identical to one another. In truth, there's not an awful lot of information about his service record as the records are not in good condition.
At the time of his attestation, on 17 November 1915, Hunter was a school teacher at Palmer's School at Grays, Essex. He was then 26 years & 8 months old.
Initially posted to 21st Battalion Depot Company, on 7 February 1916.
One offence of having a dirty rifle (9 May 1916), which appears to have been on either the second or fifth day of his service in France!
Died of wounds received.
