Enlisted at Alnwick, Northumberland on 27 August 1914.
Initially reported wounded & missing on his 21st Birthday, it was 1916 before Henderson was officially reported killed on that day.

Background:
Born on 22 August 1896, at Warkworth, Northumberland, the only son of Andrew Henderson (a Roadman), by his wife, Elizabeth Henderson (née Younger), of Bank House Cottages, Acklington, Northumberland. The family previously lived at Sturton Grange, Warkworth (1911) &, before that, at Bilton Banks, Lesbury.
The 1911 Census records Henderson's occupation as a Farm Worker. He had a sister, Jessie.
