The UK, WW1 Service Medal & Award Rolls, 1914-1920 (available via Ancestry.co.uk) records Gelson's rank during part of his service with the RASC as Acting Corporal but a case of misconduct resulted in him reverting to Private.
Died of wounds received.
Background:
Born at, & resident of Alnwick, the son of Thomas & Mary Ann Gelson, of Ogle Terrace, Alnwick.
In 1911, Gelson was a Butcher's Apprentice.
