Background:
Born about 1886, at Harnham, Belsay, Northumberland, the son of the late Joseph Arthur & Catherine Arthur.

Husband of Annie Mary Arthur (née Anderson; b. about 1889), of Hudspeth, Elsdon, Northumberland, who he married on 10 May 1910. They had three sons - Joseph; John; & Arthur. His Attestation papers record his address in 1916 as Burnshouse Cottage, Elsdon.

The 1911 Census records Arthur's occupation as: Cartman & Farm Horseman.
