Enlisted at Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland.

Background:
Born about 1894, at Newcastle, the son of John Alexander Forrest (b. about 1868; at South Shields, County Durham; a Painter & Decorator) & his wife, Mrs. M. A. Forrest (also b. about 1868; at Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland), of 51, James Street, Gateshead, County Durham.

Five siblings: John (b. about 1888); Alexander (b. about 1890); Mary (b. about 1892); Andrew (b. about 1897); & Alice (b. about 1902). All were born at Newcastle except for Alice, who was born at Gateshead.

Forrest's older brothers followed their father into the Painting & Decorating trade while, in 1911, his older sister was a Barmaid. Then, the family lived at 28, Coatsworth Road, Gateshead.

Pre-war occupation: Mechanic.

Husband of Blanche Mary Forrest (née Ames), of Earsdon House, High Street, Belford, Northumberland. They married at Belford in the second quarter of 1916, only a matter of weeks before Forrest died.
