Enlisted at Alnwick, Northumberland.
Background:
Son of the late David & Rachel Douglas.
In 1911, Douglas was a Banksman at a local mine. (N.B. A banksman or banker worked at the pit bank to dispatch the coals, & organise the workforce. He would have been in charge of loading or unloading the cage, drawing full tubs from the cages & replacing them with empty ones).
