Very little information can be found in relation to John Douglas. The connection with Amble is unclear although a brother with the initial M. may have lived at 9, George Street, Amble. Also, Douglas enlisted there & he's buried in a family plot in Amble West Cemetery. His headstone also commemorates his brother Andrew - see accompanying photograph.

One of two sons lost - see, also, Private Andrew Douglas (Regimental service #27650; Border Regiment, 8th [Service] Battalion; Died 29 April 1918).
