Service History:
There is no trace of a William Dawson or similar on the CWGC & Ancestry.co.uk websites with obvious links to the wider Rothbury area.

There are only two William Dawson's who served with the Tyneside Scottish Brigade - Private William Gilchrist Dawson (Regimental service #23/1608; 23rd Battalion; Died 1 July 1916; refer to separate entry, below) & 47125, Private Thomas William Dawson.

If 47125 is correct, Dawson enlisted at Norwich, Norfolk.

Formerly 174211, Royal Engineers.

Background:
Born at Aldborough, Suffolk.

The UK, Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects, 1901-1929 (available via Ancestry.co.uk) records Dawson's Executor as being his Uncle Philip.

The connection of 47125 to the wider Rothbury area appears somewhat tenous!
