Enlisted at Amble, Northumberland.
Background:
Born about 1890 at Barnsley, Yorkshire.
Husband of Beatrice Isabel Darby (née Cuthbertson; b. about 1892, at Amble). The 1911 Census records them living with Beatrice's family at 25, Bowes Street, Gosforth, Northumberland. They had a 3-months old daughter, Winifred, who had been born at Gosforth.
Four generations of the family were living together in 1911. Beatrice's father, George Cuthbertson, was born at Alnwick while her grandfather had been born at Seahouses.
