Background:
Born about 1892, at Barmoor Moor, Lowick, Northumberland, the son of Alexander (b. about 1857, at Norham, Northumberland; a Shepherd) & Eliza Crammond, of Kyloe Cottages, Beal, Northumberland.

Crammond had an elder brother, Robert (b. about 1887) & five sisters: Margaret (b. about 1889); Eliza (b. about 1890); Sarah (b. about 1894); Isabella (b. about 1896); & Jane (b. about 1899).

In 1911 Crammond was employed as a Horseman on a farm.
