N.B. Winchester may have been a Corporal acting as a Sergeant but 'Soldiers Died...' records his rank as 'Private'.
Killed in action during the 1917 Battle of Arras. Winchester had already seen service during the Boer War & was a member of the Battalion Signalling section. The 'Berwickshire Advertiser' had his rank as Sergeant.
