Service History:
Both Turnbull & his brother, James, enlisted at Glasgow, Scotland, on 28 June 1915 & joined the RFA. They landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula on 6 October following. His brother was by his side when he fell.

Killed by a stray shell.

Background:
Born about 1888, the son of John & Martha Jane Turnbull, of Belvedere House, Norham, Northumberland.

Native of Belford, Northumberland.

Pre-enlistment occupation: Butcher, working with his father at Belford.

Turnbull was a member of the Belford Young Mens Mutual Improvement Society, & also a bell ringer at the Parish Church.
