Enlisted at Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland.

Born at Chathill, Northumberland, the son of John McDougle Tait & Ellen Tait, of 22, Woodside Avenue, Newburn-on-Tyne.

'Soldiers Died...' records Tait as being resident at Blucker, Northumberland, however there's no such place. Lucker, near Bamburgh & not too far from Chathill, Tait's place of birth, probably represents the most likely place of residence.
