Service History:
While in Cambridge, Everett had been a member of the Cambridge University Officer Training Corps & so, following the outbreak of war, gained a Commission as 2nd Lieutenant soon afterwards in the Norfolk Regiment.

Arrived in France on 30 August 1915 &, after a considerable period during which he attained the rank of Captain & was appointed Adjutant, he was sent back to England to instruct at a Cadet School, returning to France again early in 1918.

Captain Everett was killed in action at Grancourt, France on 8 October 1918, just weeks from the end of the war, while attached to the 2nd Battalion, Norfolk Regiment.

Background:
Born on 20 September 1891, the son of William (a Coachman) & Martha Everett of Chelsea, London. The family lived at Goldings House, between Sele Farm & Waterford.

Educated at Holy Trinity Church of England School, Chelsea, then Hertford Grammar School (from 1905-1910), where he was Head Boy & Captain of Cricket & Football. Everett matriculated at Downing College in 1910, studying Maths & Natural Sciences. He was a fine all-round athlete & represented the College at most sports & regularly at Cricket.

Everett graduated in 1913 & secured a teaching position at DukeÂ’s School in Alnwick.
