Background:
Born at Glanton, Northumberland, the son of John (b. about 1862) & Elizabeth Davison (b. about 1863), of Cockhall, Eglingham, Alnwick, Northumberland.

The 1911 Census records Davison (15) as a Shepherd & single, living with his parents & six siblings: Andrew (21); Mary (19); John (17); Kate (12); William (10); & Jane (7). John Snr. was a Cowman & Farmer. Andrew & John Jnr. were both Horsemen & Farmers. The family was living at Shawdon Wood House which was described as being Alnwick.
