Born in the early part of 1886, at Amble, Northumberland, one of ten children of James (a Miner) & Ellenor Brooks.
The family surname sometimes appears as 'Brookes', depending on source.
Brooks married Mary Ford in 1908. They had four children - James; Archer; Maggie; & Laura.
Pre-enlistment occupation: Coal Miner.
The UK, Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects, 1901-1929 (available via Ancestry.co.uk) lists Brooke's sole legatee as his wife, Mary.
