Died of Malaria when serving in the Balkans theatre of war.

Background:
Born about 1892, at Warkworth, Northumberland, the son of Mary Elizabeth Bootiman (née Green; b. about 1860, at Cavil Head, Acklington, Morpeth) & the late Lionel Bootiman (b. about 1856, at Harbottle, Northumberland; in 1901 a Freestone Quarryman working on his own account; d. 18 April 1906, at Edlingham).

Bootiman had four older sisters - Elizabeth (b. about 1881); Sarah Jane (b. about 1883); Alice Mary (b. about 1888); & Mildred (b. about 1890) - two older brothers, Thomas (b. about 1878) & Lionel (b. about 1885; who also served during WW1 & survived), & a younger brother, Joseph (b. about 1894; employed in 1911 as a Butcher). All were born at Warkworth.

Before the war, Bootiman was a Domestic Groom.

Husband of Jane (Jeannie) Robinson (née Taylor) Bootiman, of The Stanners, Warkworth. Jeannie was born in 1884, & died in 1941, age 56. A War Gratuity of £6-0s-4d was awarded to her & a surviving child.
