Background:
Born about 1900 at Alnmouth, Northumberland the son of William (born about 1861, at Lesbury, Northumberland; a Joiner by trade) & Eleanor (born about 1863, at Alnmouth) Wood, of 8, Wagon Way Road, Alnwick.
The 1911 Census reveals Wood had three brothers, all born at Alnmouth - Robert William (16; a Railway Clerk); Leslie Victor (13); & John Edward (8).
One of two sons lost: see, also, Private Robert William Wood (Regimental service #R/17374; King's Royal Rifle Corps, 11th [Service] Battalion, attached to the regiment's 10th [Service] Battalion; Died 4 September 1916).
