It's unclear what Wilson died of but, from the date of death & the theatre of war, it may not be unreasonable to deduce the cause of death was likely to be disease (such as malaria) or illness (perhaps, from the flu pandemic then sweeping across the world).
Background:
Born about 1893, at Alnwick, Northumberland, the eldest son of Robert (b. 1863 at Powburn, Northumberland) & Dorothy (b. 1865) Wilson, of East Lane Farm, Whittingham, Northumberland.
Wilson's siblings were Ethel (b. 1894); Ernest (b. 1897); Alice (b. 1900); & Ruth (b. 1901).
In 1901, his father was a Rural Postman. By 1911 he had become a Farmer.
The 1911 Census describes Wilson's occupation as Assistant on [a] Farm while Ethel was a Dressmaker's Assistant & Ernest a Grocer's Apprentice. Alice & Ruth were still at school.
