Born at Kelso, Roxburghshire, Scotland, the son of Andrew (a Seedsman & Nurseryman) & Elizabeth Michie, of 14, Bondgate Within, Alnwick, Northumberland.
One of two sons lost: see, also, Henry George Michie (Officer of the Northumberland Fusiliers' 15th [Reserve] Battalion, attached to the regiment's 8th [Service] Battalion; Died 26 September 1916).
Resident of Alnwick before joining up. In 1911, the family lived at 60, Bondgate Within.
In 1911, Michie, 17 years-old, worked as a Grocer's Assistant
He had eight siblings, four brothers & four sisters.
